Where melanin meets
the ocean — unapologetically.
A sanctuary to heal, thrive, and simply be.
Born for Black and Brown women.
Open to every woman who belongs at the shore.
Our Story
The beach was always ours.
We just built the brand to prove it.
Black Girls Beach was born between two women who both needed the water to survive — longtime friends whose husbands were best friends for over 30 years.
Andrea Morehead Allen — Emmy Award–winning journalist — found herself at the shore during the hardest seasons of her life: healing from breast cancer, rebuilding after workplace abuse, and learning to choose herself. She felt her ancestors in the salt air — women who crossed water, survived water, and were renewed by water. The beach called her to forge her own wave, her own way.
Coeli Baker came to the water carrying grief —
the loss of her husband and the wounds of her own workplace battle.
She found that salt air and open sky have a way of restoring what people try to take from you.
A marketing fundraiser whose work has served the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, the American Cancer Society, and the National Kidney Foundation, she believes it's never too late to intentionally pursue the life you want to live.
Together, they built Black Girls Beach, Brown Girls Beach, and other collections filled with celebratory phrases that remind you to live joyously. The water doesn't just hold you…
THE BEACH HEALS!
"The beach is for everyone.
We are proof of that."
At the heart of Black Girls Beach is a simple truth: the shore belongs to all of us.
Our company was built across friendship, grief, healing, and history — and it represents the full diaspora of humanity.
We go to the beach to resist the hustle, restore our souls, and rest.
